SWITCH OFF...
A short story about a man who is following a girl.
Once upon a time, in the heavens and on earth, a great terror gripped the universe. Mahishasura, the shape-shifting demon king, had grown unstoppable. After years of intense penance, he had gained a boon from Lord Brahma that no man or god could kill him. Filled with pride and arrogance, he unleashed chaos, conquering both the mortal and divine realms, throwing everything into disarray.
Mahishasura, with his army of demons, defeated the gods and took control of heaven. He ruled with tyranny, casting darkness over the world. The gods, helpless against his might, gathered in desperation to seek a solution. They went to the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, pleading for help.
The three supreme gods realized that Mahishasura could not be defeated by any man or god, but he could still be vanquished by a woman. Channeling their collective divine energy, they created an unstoppable force—a goddess of immense power and radiance, Durga.
Born from the light of the gods, Durga emerged as a magnificent warrior. Her form was awe-inspiring, with ten arms, each holding a weapon gifted by the gods. Her eyes burned with determination, and her mount was a fierce lion, symbolizing strength and courage. The gods, filled with hope, bestowed upon her their blessings and urged her to end Mahishasura's tyranny.
Durga rode into battle on her lion, her presence shaking the earth and the skies. The battlefield was fierce, with Mahishasura constantly changing forms—from a buffalo to an elephant and even a lion—attempting to outwit the goddess. But Durga, with her divine powers, fought with grace and strategy. Her weapons struck down the demon army one by one, clearing the path to Mahishasura.
In his final form, as a raging buffalo, Mahishasura charged at Durga, determined to crush her. But the goddess, calm and fearless, leaped onto his back and struck him with her trident. With a mighty roar, she beheaded the demon, ending his reign of terror once and for all.
With Mahishasura’s defeat, peace was restored in heaven and on earth. The gods praised Durga, hailing her as the embodiment of strength, courage, and divine justice. Her victory became a symbol of the triumph of good over evil, of light over darkness.
From that day onward, Durga was celebrated as the protector of the universe, and the day of her victory over Mahishasura became known as Vijayadashami, or Dussehra—a festival that continues to be celebrated with devotion and joy.
Durga’s story is a reminder that no matter how powerful evil may seem, justice and righteousness will always prevail.
